ABSTRACT

This review examines the economic impact of using smart infusion pumps in ambulance and emergency medical services. Smart infusion pumps ensure that medications and fluids are delivered in the correct dose and safely, enhancing patient safety and reducing the workload of healthcare professionals. The use of these devices is particularly critical during patient transfers in 112 land, air, and sea ambulances. The compatibility of ambulance pumps with hospital devices prevents unnecessary device changes during transfers, simplifying the process. However, lost or poorly maintained devices may incur additional costs for healthcare institutions. A lack of staff training increases the risk of errors during use. Regular maintenance and calibration extend the lifespan of these pumps, enhancing economic efficiency, while integration with internet of things technology allows for remote monitoring. This study evaluates the economic impact of smart infusion pumps, highlighting the importance of regular maintenance, staff training, and system compatibility. It also aims to raise awareness about the effective use of these devices and encourage further research in this field.
