ABSTRACT
In this review, the effect of patients engagement and partnership on healthcare services quality and outcomes was assessed under the light of current literature. Recently, the declaration of patients expectations from services has been discussed. Studies have shown a positive correlation between Patient-related Experience Mesaures (PREM) and Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROM) and healthcare services outcomes, but still further investigations are needed. On the other hand, increased patient engagement was shown to improve outcomes and decrease cost. Lately, patients participation in quality improvement efforts is being discussed. Beyond patient engagement, patient centered standards now seek patients’ persectives in quality improvement projects. Shortly, studies have shown that patient engagement, reflects positively on patient satisfaction, service process and quality and even staff satisfaction.
