ABSTRACT
Quality management is a key component of any high performing healthcare system. A base quality management model consist of quality planning, quality control, quality improvement components. Numerous methods are used to improve the quality of health services. One of these methods is the breakthrough series collaborative or quality ımprovement collaborative method. Despite widespread use of the quality ımprovement collaborative methot in global healthcare sector, there is hardly any Turkish literature on how to operationalize the method in healthcare environment. This manuscript presents guidance on method to conduct quality ımprovement collaboratives to assist health teams in implementing evidence-based practices. In this context learning the successes and challenges of the quality improvement collaboratives method will improve quality improvement efforts to maximize benefits in health care. In addition this study describes implementation steps for individuals interested in conducting a quality improvement collaborative method. These steps include planning/preparation activities (e.g., select a topic, developing planning committee and change package), estimated resources required (i.g., personnel), activities to prepare participants for the collaborative (e.g., orientation meeting, learning sessions), specific actions during the collaborative, evaluation approaches and publication of results.
